Where the Wild Things Are is the classic tale of Max, who gets into trouble for being mischievous and is sent to his room without supper. In his room grows a forest and an ocean appears with a boat for him. After sailing for quite some time Max comes to the place where the wild things live. Max tames the wild things and becomes the king. After playing together Max sends them to bed without their supper and he smells something delicious worlds away. He leaves the wild things, and sails back to his room and finds his dinner in his room waiting for him. This story is relatable by children in that when they get in trouble they feel badly and some picture running away, but then they are reminded how their parents really care for them. Sendak does an amazing job illustrating Max, he looks mischievous, and the wild things look scary enough for children but not too scary. This book is great for a bedtime story, story time, or anytime.
